BIEDERMEIER CHESTS AND SERVERS D147

Exemplary for the very small region of 'Vierlande', closed to Hamburg with a limited number of wealthy farmers who traditionally honored the bride with a wedding chest. I haven't seen more than 2 chests of this kind in 43 years. Walnut - colored patinated oak. Fine marquetry panels with mahogany and maple depicting urns and baskets with flowers, birds, trees, branches and the brides name "Anna Meier" and "Anno 1866". Original handles, catches, lock. later feet.
Germany, dated 1866.
