BIEDERMEIER SIDE TABLES ST570
BIEDERMEIER SIDE TABLES ST570

Side tables have been especially used by Biedermeier cabinet makers to verify the depth of the cabinet maker's craftsmanship. They are some sort of "business cards". The above item, in walnut veneered on pine, often called "drum table" gives the proof of the ability to create a drum-looking table, excellent in shape and proportions, with saber legs, beautifully detailed with the wool yarn over three stretchers (in case it's used as sewing table) and especially the masterful sunburst veneered table-top. Vertically veneered apron. One drawer with fitted interior. Original lock. Germany, circa 1815/20.
