This South German Biedermeier chest (region of Mainz) is exemplary cubical designed and veneered with walnut on pine. Its surfaces are decorated in book-match pattern with the most important motif of decoration in Biedermeier, the wood itself. Standing veneers on front and both sides with identical grain configuration. Raised on four original squeezed block feet. Diamond-shaped escutcheons inlaid with maple. Two of three iron locks original.
